Resetting the Windows Security Center

How to reset the Windows Security Center when it reports that an antivirus program is installed that is no longer on the system.

1. Stop the Windows Management Instrumentation service.

2. Delete the C:\Windows\System32\wbem\repository directory.

3. Restart the Windows Management Instrumentation and Windows Security Center services.
